Lawrie back in Blue Jays' lineup

The Toronto Blue Jays will have one of their injured players returning for Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox, with the club activating third baseman Brett Lawrie from the 15-day disabled list prior to the contest.

Lawrie, who will bat sixth in Tuesday's matchup, had missed the first two weeks of the regular season with a strained left oblique the native Canadian sustained prior to last month's World Baseball Classic.

The 23-year-old batted .273 with 11 home runs, 48 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 2012, Lawrie's first full season in the majors.

Lawrie rejoins a Toronto lineup that won't have slugger Jose Bautista for a second straight night due to back spasms, while shortstop and leadoff hitter Jose Reyes is out until the All-Star break after severely spraining his left ankle last Friday at Kansas City.

The Blue Jays will also be without reliever Sergio Santos for the next two weeks after the former closer was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right triceps injury.

Santos had allowed just one run while striking out six over 4 1/3 innings in five appearances to begin the season.
