Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo was arrested Tuesday morning on allegations of drunken driving.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, which cites the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, Gallardo was pulled over at 2:10 a.m. local time near Miller Park.
Gallardo registered 0.22 on a breath test, nearly three times over the legal limit in Wisconsin (0.08). He was only issued a ticket because it was his first offense.
The right-hander is 0-1 with a 6.61 ERA in three starts this season. Gallardo is scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Giants.
The Brewers released the following statement about the incident:
"We have been made aware of the situation with Yovani and we take this matter very seriously. We have expressed our disappointment to him and know he understands that behavior of this nature is of great concern to everyone in the organization. Yovani has acknowledged the seriousness of this incident and is taking full accountability for his actions."
