Denver Broncos cornerback Tony Carter signed his exclusive-rights free agent tender with the club on Monday.

Carter, a fifth-year veteran, played in a career-high 15 games for Denver last season and tied for the team lead in passes defensed with 12.

He added two defensive touchdowns -- a 65-yard fumble recovery and a 40-yard interception return.

The 26-year-old Florida State product will enter his third straight season with the Broncos and fourth year with the team. Carter went undrafted and signed with Denver back in 2009.

He spent 2010 mostly on the New England Patriots' practice squad before returning to Denver in 2011.
