T'Wolves welcome Suns to Target Center

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Minnesota Timberwolves got back to .500 in a resounding way and will try to keep the good play going Wednesday night when they host the Phoenix Suns.

The Wolves demolished the Philadelphia 76ers, 126-95, on Monday night in the City of Brotherly Love. That gave them two wins in their last three and four in the past six.

"Just a really solid win for us. We came out at the start of the game and played well all the way through," said Timberwolves head coach Rick Adelman. "We did a pretty good job of keeping them in the halfcourt and passed the ball and shot the ball well."

Kevin Love poured in a game-high 26 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had four assists to lead the Timberwolves. Kevin Martin scored 18, Corey Brewer and Nikola Pekovic added 15 and 16 points, respectively, while the latter had 14 rebounds for Minnesota. J.J. Barea scored 13 points and Alexey Shved and Dante Cunningham contributed 10 points apiece for the visitors.

The Wolves only shot 46 percent from the field compared to 61.5 percent from 3-point range.

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute missed the past two games due to a strained left groin suffered Jan. 1 vs. New Orleans, and is listed as questionable for Wednesday's contest.

The Suns embarked on a five-game road trip Tuesday and started it on the wrong foot with a 92-87 loss to the depleted Chicago Bulls. It was Phoenix's second loss in its last three.

Goran Dragic scored a game-high 21 points and Gerald Green added 15 on 3- for-10 shooting from 3-pount range. Channing Frye and Miles Plumlee added 11 points and seven rebounds apiece for the Suns, while Ish Smith chipped in 10 off the bench.

"They run a unique offense, they know us so well and they know where guys are going to shoot from. It was an advantage. It was different for us. I was kind of guessing a bit," Plumlee said.

The Suns shot a dismal 26 percent from long range to fall to 8-8 on the road this season.

The Wolves took three of four last season from the Suns and have won four of the last six in this series. Phoenix has lost two straight in Minnesota, but had won the six previous encounters there.
