Clips head to Memphis to try and cool off Grizzlies

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Clippers will play their next three games on the road, starting with Friday's matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Clippers will also visit Oklahoma City and New Orleans, and are 14-14 on the road this season. They just went 3-2 on a recent homestand and had a three-game winning streak stopped with Tuesday's 113-103 loss to San Antonio.

Blake Griffin pumped in 35 points on 14-of-24 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Jamal Crawford scored 25 points. DeAndre Jordan scored seven points to go along with his 18 rebounds for the Clippers, who are 3-3 in their last six games overall and shot just 43.2 percent.

"We were slow and didn't play very well. They were more ready to play than we were. We played a flat basketball game," said Clippers coach Doc Rivers.

Chris Paul compiled 11 points and nine assists in defeat.

Los Angeles, which is fourth in the West standings, has scored 100-plus points in seven straight games and is second in the NBA with 106.9 ppg this season.

Meanwhile, Griffin is averaging 33.9 points this month and topped the 6,000- point mark in his career versus the Spurs.

The Clippers made a pair of small trade deadline moves Thursday, sending Byron Mullens to the Philadelphia 76ers for a future second-round pick, and shipping Antawn Jamison to the Atlanta Hawks for the draft rights to Cenk Akyol.

The Grizzlies are a game off the final postseason spot in the West and have won three straight and 15 of the last 19 games.

In a 98-93 victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday, Mike Conley returned from a seven-game absence because of an ankle issue and delivered 22 points, including 10 in the decisive fourth quarter.

Mike Miller and Zach Randolph scored 19 and 13 points, respectively, for Memphis, which used a 13-3 run to close out the contest.

"I thought we really gutted it out the last six minutes," said Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger. "We just made a lot of plays."

Memphis is aiming for its third straight win at home and has a 15-14 record on Beale Street this season.

The Grizzlies and Clippers have split two meetings this season, but L.A. has won eight of the past 11 matchups between the teams. The Clippers are 7-0 on Friday games this season and unbeaten in three straight games at FedExForum.
