Barcelona, Spain – Sergio Garcia's equalizer in stoppage time rescued a point for 10-man Espanyol in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Valencia on Saturday at the Estadi Cornella-El Prat.
Both clubs had chances to score in the first half, but the home side struck first right on the stroke of halftime through Mubarak Wakaso.
After the intermission, Valencia battled back with an equalizer in the 53rd minute through Sergio Madrazo. The match appeared headed for a tame 1-1 result, but the intensity picked up in the final 10 minutes and Verdu bagged his eighth goal of the year to give Espanyol a 2-1 lead with nine minutes to play.
But the action was just getting started as Jonas made it 2-2 with four minutes to play, and Roberto Soldado scored in stoppage time to give Valencia a 3-2 edge.
Espanyol then went down a man Raul Rodriguez was sent off, but that didn't blunt the Espanyol attack as Garcia scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to rescue a point for his club in dramatic fashion.
Valladolid 2, Getafe 1
Valladolid, Spain - Valladolid tallied twice in a four-minute span on Saturday to secure a 2-1 result over Getafe at the Jose Zorrilla.
The visitors struck first right on the stroke of halftime when Paco Alcacer gathered a pass from Borja and headed it into the bottom right to give Getafe a 1-0 lead at the intermission.
After the break, however, Valladolid found an equalizer in the 68th minute when Oscar Gonzalez got on the end of a pass from Alvaro Rubio in the penalty area and headed it into the top left corner put the sides on level terms.
Just four minutes later, Valladolid went in front through Javi Guerra, who ripped a right-footed strike past Getafe goalkeeper Jordi Codina.
Valladolid improves to 38 points from 31 matches, while the loss leaves Getafe in eighth place with 44 points.
Deportivo 4, Levante 0
Valencia, Spain - Deportivo lifted itself out of the bottom three on Saturday with a convincing 4-0 thrashing of Levante at the Ciutat de Valencia.
The visitors dominated play from the outset and opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the match as Juan Carlos Valeron ripped a right-footed strike into the net to give the Deportivo the lead.
Eight minutes later, Deportivo made it 2-0 through Pizzi's right-footed rocket from outside the box, and it was 3-0 for the visitors in the 28th minute when Nelsen Oliveria found the back of the net.
Bruno Gama put a bow on Deportivo's best performance of the season with a goal in stoppage time to finish the rout.
Deportivo moves into 16th place with 29 points, two clear of the relegation zone.
Malaga 1, Osasuna 0
Malaga, Spain - Julio Baptista netted the only goal of the match in second- half stoppage time as Malaga pulled out a 1-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday at the Estadio La Rosaleda.
The hosts had the better of the play for the duration of the match, controlling 58 percent of possession and putting eight shots on goal, but their breakthrough did not come until the third minute of stoppage time in the second half.
With a free kick from just outside the Osasuna penalty area, Baptista got on the end of the set-piece opportunity and directed it past Osasuna goalkeeper Andres Fernandez with a well-placed right-footed strike into the bottom right corner.
Malaga moves into fifth place in La Liga with 50 points from 31 matches, while Osasuna remains in 15th place, four points clear of the bottom three.
