Alex Chiasson tallied twice, leading Dallas to a 5-2 victory over Nashville at Bridgestone Arena.

Ray Whitney, Erik Cole and Tom Wandell added scores for the Stars, who won their fourth straight game.

Pressed into service due to a lower-body injury to starter Kari Lehtonen, Richard Bachman held down his end with 26 saves.

Dallas remained tied for 10th place in the West along with Columbus -- which beat St. Louis on Friday -- within striking distance of the eighth and final playoff berth.

"Every point counts right now and these were a big two points we got here," said Cole. "It's getting to the stretch run now and we have to win as many as we can."

Bobby Butler and Taylor Beck provided offense for the Predators, who slid to their fifth consecutive defeat. Chris Mason was shelled for all five scores on just 18 shots.

"This was a tough one and I don't know what to tell you guys," said Nashville defenseman Shea Weber. "It seems like we just didn't know what to do out there tonight."

Cole's point blast put the hosts on the board just after the six-minute mark of the first period, and Whitney's blistering one-timer from the left wing on a Dallas advantage made it 2-0 at 8:40.

Beck's power-play score with 1:18 left pulled Nashville within one before intermission.

Wandell's tip of a Ryan Garbutt shot restored Dallas' two-goal edge less than 2 1/2 minutes into the second, and it was 4-1 for the hosts on a Chiasson shot with 11:12 played.

Chiasson's second in a row boosted the Stars to a 5-1 advantage just after the seven-minute mark of the final period, then Butler answered for the hosts a little more than five minutes later.
