Inside linebacker Rolando McClain has signed a one-year contract with the Baltimore Ravens.

McClain passed his physical Friday before signing. He comes to the Ravens as a free agent after being released by the Oakland Raiders this month.

The 6-foot-4, 259-pound McClain spent three years with Oakland after being selected eighth overall in the 2010 NFL draft. In 41 career games, he has 274 tackles, 6½ sacks and one interception.

The 23-year-old appeared in 11 games last season, starting nine of them.

He has a chance to take over for Ray Lewis, who retired after 17 seasons.

In 2009 with Alabama, McClain was honored with both the Butkus Award and Jack Lambert Award as the nation's top collegiate linebacker.
