The Baltimore Orioles have claimed pitcher Alex Burnett off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Burnett spent the past three seasons with Minnesota and was claimed by the Blue Jays off waivers from the Twins late last month. Toronto placed him on waivers Wednesday.

The 25-year-old right-hander, who will join Baltimore's Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk, owns a career record of 8-11 with a 4.61 ERA in 174 games, all with Minnesota from 2010-12. He appeared in 67 games last season and was 4-4 with a 3.52 ERA.

Baltimore opened a roster spot by transferring infielder Wilson Betemit to the 60-day disabled list. He is recovering from a torn PCL in his right knee.
