The Boston Red Sox activated shortstop Stephen Drew from the seven-day concussion disabled list and optioned shortstop Jose Iglesias to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Drew hasn't played a game with the Red Sox since being hit in the head with a pitch in a Grapefruit League matchup against Minnesota on March 7. In four games with Double-A Portland, Drew had just two hits in 13 at-bats with three runs batted in but both hits did go for extra bases. He connected on a double Friday before finishing up his minor league stint on Monday with a solo homer
The 30-year-old Drew, the younger brother of former Red Sox outfielder J.D. Drew, split last season with Arizona and Oakland. He batted a combined .223 in 79 games with seven homers and 28 RBI.
Iglesias started six of Boston's first seven games this season, going 9- for-20.
