The New York Knicks will try to win the Atlantic Division for the first time in 19 seasons on Wednesday night when they host the Washington Wizards.

The Knicks, winners of 12 straight games, are six ahead of the Brooklyn Nets with six to play. If New York wins on Tuesday, or the Nets lose to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Atlantic Division title belongs to the Knicks.

The Knicks haven't won the Atlantic Division since the 1993-94 season. That same season, they lost in the NBA Finals to the Houston Rockets.

New York's 12th consecutive victory came on Sunday, in Oklahoma City, over the Thunder. The Knicks won 125-120 and moved 2 1/2 games past the Indiana Pacers for the second seed in the Eastern Conference.

"This is probably one of the biggest wins we've had in a long time," said Carmelo Anthony. "For us to come out here, keep our composure and win on the road, we can out here and did it."

Anthony continued to be amazing. He went for 36 points on 15-for-29 shooting and earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors, averaging 41.8 ppg during the week.

During this epic run, Anthony has fractionally inched ahead of OKC's Kevin Durant for the NBA scoring lead.

"I try not to think about that," said Anthony. "I just go out there and just play ball. I don't think about that."

The Wizards have lost two of their last three and five in a row on the road. On Sunday, Washington fell to the Boston Celtics 107-96, one night after burying the Indiana Pacers in D.C.

Washington's fortunes turned in the third quarter against the Celtics. Boston won the period 31-19 and went ahead by 16 points.

"Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the other team," said Wizards head coach Randy Wittman. "It's not so much us. I thought they shot the ball extremely well tonight and during that stretch in the third quarter we couldn't buy a basket to try and keep it back and forth like a tennis match, and we dug ourselves a hole."

Five Wizards players scored in double digits, but none higher than John Wall's 16. He added 10 assists and Martell Webster, Trevor Ariza, Kevin Seraphin and A.J. Price also cracked the 10-point mark.

The Knicks have taken two of three this season against the Wiz, but have won 17 of their last 21 overall against Washington. The Wizards have dropped nine straight in Madison Square Garden.
