Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, St. Louis Blues goaltender Brian Elliott and New York Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist were selected as the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the week ending April 7.

Ovechkin gained First Star honors by leading the NHL with seven goals and tying for tops in the league with nine points in only four games. The star forward's best performance came in a 4-3 win over Florida last Saturday, when the Russian notched his 12th career hat trick. He followed up with a two-goal effort in a 4-2 decision against Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Elliott picked up the Second Star after going 3-0-0 with a 1.45 goals-against average, .952 save percentage and one shutout in three games. His season-high 33 stops fueled a 4-3 shootout win over Chicago last Thursday, and then made 28 saves in a 1-0 shutout at Detroit on Sunday.

Lundqvist earned the Third Star after finishing the week with a 3-0-1 record, 1.22 goals-against average and .962 save percentage. He stopped 26 shots apiece during a 4-2 victory against Winnipeg on April 1 and a 6-1 thrashing of Pittsburgh two days later, then stopped 26 more pucks in his 500th career NHL game in a 2-1 shootout loss to Pittsburgh on April 5.
