Bulls put win streak against Pistons on the line

The Chicago Bulls can still improve their positioning in the Eastern Conference playoff race and look to resume a dominant winning streak against the Detroit Pistons Sunday night at The Palace.

The Bulls are fifth in the East, 1 1/2 games behind Brooklyn and 1 1/2 games ahead of Atlanta, and have ripped off 18 straight wins over the Pistons. Chicago is 23-2 in the past 25 meetings with the Central rival Pistons, who have lost eight straight to the Bulls at home.

Chicago is coming off Friday's 87-86 victory over the Orlando Magic as Nate Robinson scored 12 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead the way. Luol Deng also had 19 points for Chicago, which trailed by five with 10 minutes to play before using 18-4 run to take an 87-78 lead with 3:51 left.

"We played as hard as we could for as long as we could and we pulled out the victory," said Robinson.

The Bulls have won six of eight games and will try to improve their 20-17 road record. Carlos Boozer came up short on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, and owns seven double-doubles in the last nine games.

Chicago is 31-14 against the East this season and hopes to have center Joakim Noah and guard Marco Belinelli against the Pistons. Noah (foot) has missed eight straight games and Belinelli (abdomen) has missed seven in a row.

Detroit is back home for a short stay and went 1-3 on a recent road trip, which culminated with Saturday's 107-101 loss at Minnesota.

Brandon Knight scored 25 points and Rodney Stuckey netted 20 for the Pistons, who have lost 15 of the last 17 contests.

Pistons coach Lawrence Frank witnessed Wolves coach Rick Adelman notch the 1,000th victory of his career.

"It's phenomenal. It's unbelievable. I will say it for the millionth time, he was one of the most underrated coaches in this game," Frank said. "He is a phenomenal teacher. For him to do it at every single stop with the consistency he has done, he is a tremendous coach."

Detroit will try to stop an eight-game slide at home and is 15-23 at The Palace of Auburn Hills this season.

Pistons guard Will Bynum has missed six straight games with a hand injury and is questionable versus the Bulls. The Pistons haven't beaten the Bulls since Dec. 23, 2008, a 104-98 victory at home..
