Canada and Italy will square off this weekend in a best-of-five Davis Cup quarterfinal tussle in Vancouver.
Friday's opening singles matches will pit 18th-ranked Italian Andreas Seppi against Vasek Pospisil and world No. 16 Canadian star Milos Raonic versus Fabio Fognini on an indoor hardcourt at Thunderbird Sports Centre.
Saturday's doubles has a Canadian duo of Pospisil and veteran doubles great Daniel Nestor taking on an Italian tandem of Daniele Bracciali and Paolo Lorenzi, while Sunday's reverse singles pit Raonic versus Seppi and the world No. 31 Fognini against the 140th-ranked Pospisil.
The Italians are captained by Corrado Barazzutti, while team Canada is led by Martin Laurendeau. This is the first-ever Davis Cup meeting between the two nations.
The Canada-Italy winner will meet the Serbia-USA victor in the semifinals in September.
