In trying to get calls right, officials may be bogging games down during NCAA tournament

Games throughout the NCAA tournament have been stopped so officials can go over to the TV monitors to review a play.

Their goal is to make sure they get the right call, whether it's time on the clock, a 3-point shot came from behind the line or an elbow that may deserve a flagrant foul.

But as the officials work on getting the correct call, are they also bogging down the games?

Coaches have complained about the use of instant replay for flagrant fouls, particularly after several players were assessed flagrants on offensive fouls.

There's also been concern that officials are checking the monitors too often to adjust the game clock, adding just a few tenths of a second while giving coaches an extra, unintended timeout.
