Vancouver, BC – The Vancouver Canucks granted forward Chris Higgins a four-year contract extension on Tuesday.
No financial terms were disclosed, but multiple reports state it is worth $2.5 million per season.
Higgins has recorded nine goals and 14 points in 35 games for the Canucks in this truncated season, following an 18-goal, 25-assist performance in 71 games a year ago.
Acquired by the Canucks in February of 2011, Higgins has posted 29 goals and 62 points in 120 regular-season appearances for Vancouver, adding eight points in 30 postseason contests.
The 29-year-old native of Long Island, who was taken in the first round of the 2002 draft by Montreal, has totaled 132 goals and 253 points in 517 games for the Habs, Rangers, Flames, Panthers and Canucks since 2003.
