The Washington Capitals activated defenseman John Erskine from injured reserve on Tuesday.

Erskine, who was signed to a two-year contract extension worth $3.925 million in late February, hasn't played since March 9 with an upper-body injury.

The 32-year-old veteran recorded three goals and five points in 17 games before the setback.

Washington also sent down defensemen Tomas Kundratek and Dmitry Orlov to Hershey of the American Hockey League.
