The Los Angeles Lakers announced Tuesday that forward Metta World Peace has a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee.

World Peace, who was injured in Monday's loss at Golden State, underwent an MRI on Tuesday in Minneapolis which revealed the tear.

The 33-year-old veteran will return to Los Angeles on Wednesday and will be examined by team doctor Steve Lombardo. A time table for his return will be issued after the examination.

Through 70 games this season, World Peace is averaging 12.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.
