Yovani Gallardo threw 6 1-3 innings of two-hit ball and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Kansas City Royals 9-1 on Wednesday.

Alex Gonzalez homered, singled and drove in two runs. Aramis Ramirez added a two-run single for the Brewers.

Gallardo gave up a solo home run to Xavier Nady in the fourth. He walked three and struck out two in his final outing ahead of his fourth straight opening day start, at home Monday against Colorado.

Luis Mendoza, chosen earlier this week to be Kansas City's fifth starter, allowed six runs and 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings.
