The West Region has been wild so far and could have a few more unexpected twists in store.

Ohio State and Arizona play in the opening semifinal game Thursday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles, a matchup that wasn't completely unexpected with the talent on these two teams.

The other semifinal is one few saw coming.

La Salle reached LA by winning three games in five days, giving the Explorers more NCAA tournament wins this year than in the previous 58 years combined.

Wichita State has won 109 games the past four seasons, yet plays under the shadow of Kansas and Kansas State in its own state and Creighton this season in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Teams with the worse seed have won seven of the 12 games in the region so far.
