Windermere, FL – Ian Poulter's birdie during the first playoff hole gave Albany the victory over Lake Nona at the Tavistock Cup.
Albany and Lake Nona, which had won the last four Tavistock Cups, both finished Tuesday's round with a cumulative score of 7-over par.
Due to the finish of the Arnold Palmer Invitational being delayed until Monday, the normally two-round tournament was shortened to just an 18-hole individual stroke play format on Tuesday.
Sixteen of the 24 players at the event took part in a better ball stroke format round on Monday that did not count towards the total results.
Poulter battled the wind to lead Albany with an even-par 72, while Tiger Woods and Tim Clark each carded 1-over 71s and Justin Rose finished with a 5-over 77.
Graeme McDowell was one of just two players to break par with a 1-under 70 to pace Lake Nona. Ross Fisher followed with an even-par 72, Henrik Stenson carded a 2-over 74 and Peter Hanson struggled to a 6-over.
Primland and tournament host Isleworth finished in a tie for third place with a cumulative score of 8-over. Primland's Webb Simpson had the best round of the day with a 2-under 70.
Oak Tree National finished in fifth at 12-over and Queenwood ended in sixth at 20-over.
After Woods failed to convert a lengthy birdie putt at the last that would have potentially won the tournament for Albany, two players from each team were selected to replay the 18th hole with a best ball format for the playoff.
Woods and Poulter represented Albany, while McDowell and Stenson were chosen for Lake Nova.
Poulter then hit his approach within five feet of the pin and converted the winning putt as McDowell failed to scramble out of a set of trees following his drive and Stenson could not roll in his long birdie putt.
