Baltimore Orioles designated hitter Wilson Betemit will miss 6-to-8 weeks after suffering a right knee injury on Monday.

He was diagnosed with a grade 2/3 posterior cruciate ligament tear and will remain in Florida for a few weeks before starting a rehab program. The injury will not require surgery.

Betemit left Monday's game against Boston in the fifth inning. He was on first and running on a pitch to Manny Machado. Betemit stumbled along the basepaths and crumbled to the ground.

He was carted off the field and put into a leg brace.
