Tsonga, Gasquet cruise in Key Biscayne

Frenchmen Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Richard Gasquet were among the early winners Saturday in the second round of the Sony Open.

The sixth-seeded Tsonga battled through a tough first set before earning a 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 win over Serbia's Viktor Troicki, while the eighth-seeded Gasquet posted a 7-5, 6-2 triumph over Belgian qualifier Olivier Rochus.

Tsonga will next play Jarkko Nieminen in the third round. The Finnish veteran eased past Slovakia's Martin Klizan, 6-2, 6-2.

Other winners Saturday included 16th-seeded Andreas Seppi of Italy and American Sam Querrey. Seppi needed three sets to dispose of Slovenia's Aljaz Bedene, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5, while Querrey rallied from a set down to beat Poland's Lukas Kubot, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.

A minor upset saw Belgian David Goffin toppled big-serving German Philipp Kohlschreiber, 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-2.

Second-seeded Andy Murray and fourth-seeded Tomas Berdych are also on Saturday's schedule. Murray has a difficult opponent in Australia's Bernard Tomic.
