Hunter Pence had three hits and Cole Gillespie, trying to win a spot on the major league roster, hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning that gave the San Francisco Giants a 9-7 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

San Francisco played without All-Star third baseman and World Series MVP Pablo Sandoval, scratched from the lineup because of right elbow discomfort. He was replaced by Joaquin Arias.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he thinks Sandoval will be fine and that he has dealt with the injury before. Sandoval felt some numbness in his fingers on a throw during pregame warmups and will receive more treatment Monday, Bochy said.

Pence drove in two runs and scored twice. Brandon Belt also had three hits and two RBIs as the Giants tagged Rockies starter Jhoulys Chacin for four runs and nine hits in 4 2-3 innings.
