Christian Williams scored 22 points to lead Jackson State to a 66-59 win over Alabama State on Thursday in the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals.

Williams was 6 of 13 from the field for the game for the second-seeded Tigers. Jeff Stubbs scored 18 points. Willie Readus and Derrell Taylor had seven rebounds apiece.

No. 5 seed Alabama State led 31-30 at halftime and shot 41 percent from the field for the game, while Jackson State shot 36.5 percent. But the Hornets had 12 turnovers, and Jackson State (11-17) had the advantage in rebounding 40-35.

Phillip Crawford had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Hornets (10-22). Denaell McDaniel had 15 points, and Joshua Freelove added 11. Bobby Brown had a team-high 11 rebounds.

Jackson State will play the winner of the Thursday night match between Alcorn State and Prairie View in the quarterfinals Friday.
