Amaker guides Harvard back to NCAA tournament despite loss of captains in academic scandal

Harvard coach Tommy Amaker knew it would be difficult to repeat as Ivy League champion, especially since it took the school more than 50 years to win it just once.

Then things got a whole lot harder.

The team's senior co-captains withdrew from school in the wake of an academic cheating scandal, and suddenly the conference favorites were struggling with new roles. Still, the Crimson managed to clinch their third consecutive Ivy title, and now they are waiting for Selection Sunday to learn their opponent in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Amaker says it's been the most gratifying season he's had in coaching. And he's hoping to get a better draw than last time, when Harvard lost to Vanderbilt.
