PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon has a special place in his heart for Madison Square Garden, with good reason.
The home of the Big East tournament has become a stage for the Panthers. Pitt has two tournament titles and advanced to the Big East championship game seven times in the last 12 years.
This week's tournament will be the program's final visit to the Garden before it joins the ACC this summer.
The 17th-ranked Panthers (24-7, 12-6 Big East) are off until Thursday when they will be the fourth seed. Dixon says the team could use the extra time off so starters Steven Adams, Tray Woodall and James Robinson can get healthy.
Pitt is on a roll heading into the postseason, winning their final four regular-season games.
