Sam Rowley's go-ahead jumper with 14 seconds left proved the difference Saturday night as Albany beat Maine 50-49 in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament.

A 12-0 run put Albany (22-10) ahead 46-44 with 2:20 left. Justin Edwards' layup put the Black Bears (11-19) back ahead 48-46 with 1:23 remaining, and after Rowley made a layup, Mike Allison's foul shot put Maine up 49-48 with 40 seconds left.

Rowley hit his layup with 14 seconds left for the final margin — Edwards missed a layup try with 5 seconds remaining.

Rowley scored Albany's final eight points and had 16 of his 19 points in the second half.

The Great Danes' Mike Black had nine points and became the 44th America East player to surpass 1,500 points.

Maine's season ended on its fourth straight loss. The Black Bears have dropped nine consecutive tournament games dating to 2005.
