United's Jones ruled out for Real Madrid clash

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed on Monday that defender Phil Jones will miss the second leg of the club's UEFA Champions League Round-of-16 tie against Real Madrid.

Jones suffered an ankle injury in a fifth round FA Cup victory over Reading on Feb. 18 and has not recovered well enough to face Real at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

"Phil's not fit and won't be fit for tomorrow," Ferguson said. "I think his performance over there has been absolutely excellent. It's a miss but we can't see it as something we can't manage. We've got options and hopefully we'll get that right."
