Pistons open quick set with Wizards

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Detroit Pistons have a good chance at getting back on track when they open a home-and-home set with the Washington Wizards Saturday from the Verizon Center.

The Pistons will host the Wizards on Monday and have won seven in a row, 15 of 17 and 20 of the last 26 contests in this series. The Pistons, winners of three straight in D.C., recorded a 113-102 victory versus Washington on Oct. 30 at The Palace thanks to 24 points and 16 rebounds from Greg Monroe.

Detroit wished it had that performance from Monroe in Friday's 109-92 loss at Orlando, as he ended with six points and six boards. Brandon Jennings scored 21 points and Will Bynum added 18 off the bench in the loss, the Pistons' third in the last four games. The Pistons are 8-7 on the road.

"From the start of the game we just couldn't get anything going offensively, defensively," Detroit head coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We just couldn't get anything going from the start."

Andre Drummond added a double-double, his 22nd this season, of 10 points and 11 rebounds. He leads the East in that category.

Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey suffered a shoulder injury against the Magic and is questionable for Saturday. Stuckey is averaging 14.5 ppg.

Washington was trying to close out a perfect four-game road trip, but dropped a 120-98 decision at Minnesota on Friday.

John Wall scored 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting, Bradley Beal added 14 points before leaving the game with a leg injury and Nene added 13 points for the Wizards, who shot 45.8 percent from the field and committed 13 turnovers for 19 Minnesota points. The Wolves had just five turnovers and led by as many as 24 points.

"They were tougher than we were," said Washington head coach Randy Wittman. "They pushed us around (and) we had no resistance."

The Wizards, who were aiming for their first four-game road winning streak since March of 2008, had scored more than 100 points in each of the past three games. They are 6-5 in the nation's capital.

Beal, meanwhile, could sit Saturday's game and missed time this season with a leg issue. He is averaging 19.2 ppg.

Wall has scored 20-plus points in five straight games and is averaging more than that over the previous nine.
