The New York Giants have retained one of their highest priority potential free agents on Wednesday, with the team signing offensive tackle Will Beatty to a five-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, though the Newark Star-Ledger reported the deal is worth $37.5 million and contains an additional $1.25 million in incentives. Of that total, $19 million will be fully guaranteed, with Beatty receiving a $12.5 million signing bonus.

Beatty's return provides stabilization to an offensive line that was marred by injuries last season and had several impending free agents.

"We are very pleased to get a new deal done with Will," said Giants general manager Jerry Reese said. "We believe he is one of the ascending left tackles in the NFL."

Beatty, a second-round pick of the Giants in the 2009 NFL Draft, has started 31 of the 50 games he's appeared in during his first four seasons. The Connecticut product had eye surgery during the 2011 campaign and missed New York's victory in Super Bowl XLVI as a result, and also sat out much of last year's training camp due to a back injury.

However, he played in all 16 games last season and started 15 of them.

"Having this be my home team, I really didn't want to go into free agency," Beatty said. "This is the team that wanted me from college. This is the team that gave me my first chance. This team went to the Super Bowl. I saw so many great moments with this team and there are still so many more to come."
