Fred Sturdivant scored 22 points with 13 rebounds and Texas Southern won its 10th straight game 70-50 over Alabama State Monday night in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

The double-double was Sturdivant's 11th and his third in his past four games. The senior was 11-of-15 shooting and blocked six shots. He was joined in double figures by Aaron Clayborn (12 points), Lawrence Johnson-Danner (12) and Ray Penn (10) for the Tigers (15-14, 14-2).

Texas Southern's Omar Strong scored just two points and was 0 for 9 from 3-point range, snapping his streak of consecutive games with at least one trey at 60 — it was the longest active streak in the NCAA.

The Tigers led 19-4 on Johnson-Danner's four-point play just under 7 minutes in and cruised to a 36-26 halftime edge.

Alabama State (9-20, 7-9) tied it 36-36 with 15:15 left, but the Tigers responded with a 21-3 run.
