New York, NY – Baylor is now the undisputed top choice in the latest Associated Press women's college basketball poll.
The Lady Bears, after beating third-ranked Connecticut and Texas last week, received all 40 first-place votes and a total of 1,000 points from a nationwide media panel. Baylor is atop the poll for the eighth straight week.
Notre Dame kept the second spot and is followed by UConn, Stanford, Duke, California and Penn State, as the top seven remained the same. UConn had two first-place votes last week.
Tennessee, Maryland and Kentucky complete this week's top 10. Tennessee moved up three places from 11th.
The second 10 consists of Georgia, Dayton, Texas A&M, South Carolina, North Carolina, Louisville, UCLA, Delaware, Colorado and Nebraska. Texas A&M was 1-2 last week and tumbled three places from 10th.
Green Bay, Syracuse, Iowa State, Florida State and Purdue are the last five teams ranked. Iowa State returned to the poll after falling out last week, while Oklahoma State dropped out this week after being ranked 23rd last week.
