Konner Veteto made a layup with five seconds remaining as Sacramento State erased a double-digit second-half deficit to defeat UC Santa Barbara 51-50 in a BracketBusters game on Saturday night.

Dylan Garrity and John Dickson had 12 points each for the Hornets (13-12), who trailed by 12 points with 12:20 remaining. Veteto and Mikh McKinney netted 11 points apiece.

Taran Brown had 18 points and Alan Williams added eight points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Gauchos (8-18), who led 29-21 at the break but shot just 28 percent (7 for 25) in the second half.

After Brown buried a three-pointer with 17 seconds remaining to give the Gauchos a 50-49 lead, Garrity zipped a one-handed pass from behind the 3-point line to a wide-open Veteto. The shot gave Sacramento State its first victory in five one-point decisions this year.

Sacramento State outscored UC Santa Barbara 23-10 over the final 12 minutes.
