Monchengladbach, Germany – Borussia Dortmund and Monchengladbach shared the points in a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Borussia Park.
Dortmund entered the day 18 points behind league leaders Bayern Munich, who easily handled Werder Bremen by a 6-1 count on Saturday, and could have cut the deficit to 15, but a second-half tally by Amin Younes ensured Dortmund just one point in Sunday's match.
The defending league champions had the first excellent chance of the match when Mario Gotze worked his way into the Monchengladbach penalty area and was dragged down to draw a penalty.
Gotze stepped up an easily put it past Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to give his side the 1-0 lead.
But Younes found an equalizer in the 67th minute when he fired a right-footed strike into the top right corner of the net, leaving Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller with little chance for a save.
Monchengladbach remains in 10th place with 31 points with the result, while Dortmund stays in second place with 43 points, a distant 17 points behind Bayern for the league's top spot.
Greuther Furth 0, Bayer Leverkusen 0
Furth, Germany - Bayer Leverkusen wasted a chance to move into second place in the Bundesliga on Sunday after being held to a scoreless draw with bottom-of- the-table Greuther Furth at the Trolli Arena.
Leverkusen had the better of the play throughout the 90 minutes, firing 11 shots on goal and controlling nearly two-thirds of the possession, but they were unable to find a breakthrough.
New Furth manager Ludwig Preis earned a point in his debut, but Furth still has not won since a 2-1 victory over Schalke on Feb 2 and remain at the foot of the table with 13 points.
