Ryan Broekhoff and Will Bogan scored 13 points apiece and LaVonte Dority added 12 off the bench, leading hot-shooting Valparaiso to an easy 82-60 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon.
Kevin Van Wijk chipped in 11 points, and Ben Boggs had 10 points and seven rebounds, for the Crusaders (22-7), who shot 68 percent from the floor to help them overcome 18 turnovers.
Corey Walden had 20 points and Mike DiNunno 19 for the Colonels (22-7), who took their only lead, 25-24, on DiNunno's free throws 5:32 before halftime. But the Crusaders closed the first half on a 15-4 run to lead 39-29 at halftime, then steadily pulled away from there.
Although the series between the schools dates to the 1923-24 season, Saturday's game, part of the BracketBusters series, was only the fifth meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Valparaiso. The Colonels now hold a 3-2 lead in the series.
