Ottawa Senators goaltender Craig Anderson was forced out of Thursday's 3-2 shootout win against the New York Rangers with an apparent injury to his right leg.

Anderson left the ice following a hard collision with the Rangers' Chris Kreider 1:43 into the third period. The veteran netminder, who was replaced by Ben Bishop, had stopped all 21 shots he faced prior to his departure.

The 31-year-old is in the midst of an excellent beginning to his 2012-13 campaign, having posted a league-best 1.51 goals-against average and a .952 save percentage in 15 starts.

Anderson could be the latest casualty to an Ottawa squad that has been ravaged by injuries this season.

Reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson is out for the year after having his Achilles tendon lacerated last week, while top-line center Jason Spezza is out until at least late March after undergoing back surgery. Milan Michalek, the team's leader with 35 goals in 2011-12, is also currently sidelined with a knee injury.
