Marseille announced on Monday that France international midfielder Mathieu Valbuena has signed a contract extension with the club that runs until 2017.

Valbuena arrived at Marseille in 2006 and has appeared in nearly 200 matches for the club.

The 28-year-old helped Marseille win the league and cup double in 2010, while he has netted four goals in 19 appearances for the French national team.

Valbuena has scored two goals and assisted on eight more in 25 Ligue 1 matches this season for Marseille, which sits in third place, five points back of leaders PSG.
