Durham, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Haley Peters finished with 22 points and eight rebounds to lead seventh-ranked Duke to a 71-56 victory over Wake Forest on Thursday.
Richa Jackson scored 15 for the Blue Devils (25-4, 12-3 ACC), who have won four of their last six. Elizabeth Williams and Tricia Liston added 10 points apiece for the hosts.
Dearica Hamby tallied 20 points and nine rebounds for Wake Forest (14-14, 5-10), which has lost four of its last six. Chelsea Douglas scored 19 and Jill Brunori added eight points and eight boards in defeat.
The Blue Devils jumped out to an early 10-2 lead in the first 3:25 of the contest and went into the break with a 33-28 advantage.
The Demon Deacons trailed by 10 before they netted seven straight to pull within three, 40-37, with 14:26 left to play. Duke fired right back with a 12-4 surge of its own and stretched the lead back to 11 points.
With 6:11 remaining on the clock, Wake Forest trailed 59-46 before rattling off eight straight points to pull within five, but Duke responded with a 10-2 burst of its own in the final 2 1/2 minutes of play to put the game away.
