Bremen, Germany – Werder Bremen has revealed that defender Theodor Gebre Selassie sustained a broken hand in training on Tuesday that will require surgery.
The 26-year-old joined Bremen over the summer from Slovan Liberec and has become a regular in the team, appearing in 19 of Bremen's 21 Bundesliga games this season.
Bremen has yet to determine how long Selassie will be out with the injury, but it certainly won't help a side that currently sits 11th in the league table.
