Edinburgh, Scotland – Rowan Vine scored a pair of first-half goals on Monday as St. Johnstone earned a 3-1 victory over Hibernian at Easter Road.
Coming off a 2-0 setback to St. Mirren in the Scottish FA Cup, St. Johnstone was looking for its second consecutive win in league play, and goals from Vine three minutes apart, as well as a second-half tally from Patrick Cregg were enough for the visitors to claim all three points.
Vine opened the scoring for the traveling side in the 23rd minute and added his second of the contest just three minutes later for a quick 2-0 lead.
St. Johnstone had a chance to widen its lead in the 34th minute, but Steven MacLean missed a penalty kick.
Cregg made it 3-0 in the 57th minute before Leigh Griffiths pulled one back for Hibernian eight minutes from time, but the away side held on for the victory to move to fourth place on 36 points.
Hibernian, meanwhile, had no answer for Vine and saw its winless run in league play extended to five straight matches. With the loss, the home side remains in fifth place on 34 points.
