Omar Strong and Ray Penn each scored 15 points and made four 3-pointers to lift Texas Southern past Grambling State 80-52 Monday night in Southwest athletic Conference play.

Law Johnson-Danner added 14 points and Aaron Clayborn's double-double, 13 points and 10 boards, helped Texas Southern (11-14, 10-2) outrebound Grambling 38-23.

Grambling State never led as Texas Southern won its sixth straight game.

After Will Hornsby's 3-pointer cut the deficit to 10, 50-40 for Grambling State, Strong's 3-pointer capped a 14-3 run, putting Texas Southern on top 64-43 with 7:58 remaining. Grambling trailed by double figures the rest of the way.

Texas Southern finished shooting 53.8 percent (28 of 52) while holding Grambling State to just 39.2 percent (20 of 51).

Madarious Gibbs and Kyrie Sutton each scored nine, helping Texas Southern's bench outscore Grambling's 21-11.

Terry Rose led winless Grambling State (0-22, 0-13) with 16 points.
