Real Betis missed a chance to move into the top five in La Liga on Monday as the club was held to a 0-0 draw at home by Valladolid.

Betis generated the majority of the chances but was guilty of being wasteful in front of the net, costing the club all three points.

Valladolid goalkeeper Daniel Hernandez did well to keep his team in front in the 21st minute when a looping volley from Benat forced him into an acrobatic save, while Dorlan Pabon missed a good chance for the hosts midway through the second half as he rolled a shot just wide of the right post after a strong build up.

The visitors had to play the final 15 minutes with 10 men after Antonio Rukavina collected a second yellow card, and it nearly cost Valladolid in the 79th when Jorge Molina's lunging effort from six yards sailed over the crossbar.
