Ricky Tarrant scored 27 points, including a three-point play with 2 seconds remaining, and Tulane defeated Houston 88-85 Saturday.

The Green Wave (16-8, 4-5 Conference USA) overcame a 16-point Houston lead in the second half. The Cougars still led 79-66 with less than 4 minutes to play when Tulane scored the next 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers by Jordan Callahan, to get within a point.

Tulane led for the first time at 82-81 after Kendall Timmons' layup with 1:47 to go, and was ahead 85-81 before Houston's Joseph Young made four free throws in the final minute to tie it.

Timmons finished with 22 points and nine rebounds and Josh Davis had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Green Wave, who ended an 18-game conference road losing streak.

Young led the Cougars (14-8, 3-6) with 26 points. TaShawn Thomas added 20 points for Houston.
