Liverpool defender Martin Kelly has secured his future with the Reds by signing a new long-term contract with the club.

The length of the new deal has not been revealed, but the 22-year-old will spend the coming years at Anfield, where he came up through the Liverpool academy.

Kelly has appeared in seven matches for Liverpool this term before suffering a serious knee injury in a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United this past September that ruled him out for six months.

"I'm delighted to have signed. It means everything to me and my family. I've been at Liverpool since I was seven, so it's in my heart and I love the club," said Kelly.

"When you play in the Liverpool shirt, you have to show the fans what it means. I just love playing and trying my hardest for the supporters and for my family."

Kelly is the latest in a group of players to have signed new contracts with Liverpool this season including Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Jonjo Shelvey and Raheem Sterling.
