Atlanta Hawks guard Lou Williams had surgery on Thursday to repair the tear of the ACL in his right knee.

The surgery was performed by orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews and assisted by Hawks orthopedic surgeon Dr. Ashok Reddy at the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Gule Breeze, Florida.

He will rehab his knee for the next 2-to-3 weeks at the Andrews Institute and his status will be updated.

Williams suffered the injury during a loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Jan. 18 when his knee buckled during a fast break opportunity in the second quarter and he had to be helped to the locker room by use of a wheelchair.

Over 39 games this season, his seventh in the NBA, Williams averaged 14.1 points and 3.6 assists per game.
