Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.

Driver's productive career came to an end in front of those who cheered him on during his 14-season run with the Packers.

"Even though I feel that I can still play the game, God has made the answer clear to me, the time is now," Driver said to the fans inside the Lambeau Field atrium. "I have to retire a Green Bay Packer. I've always said I never wanted to wear another uniform, but always the green and gold."

Driver helped the storied franchise to a Super Bowl title after the 2010 season. He is the club's all-time leader with 743 receptions and 10,137 yards, and sits third with 61 touchdown catches.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection had just eight catches for 77 yards with a pair of touchdowns in 13 games this past season. He had seven seasons of at least 70 catches and 1,000 receiving yards.

"I felt that this was an opportunity to walk away from the game, knowing that I've given it all I can," Driver said after listing Packers greats who came before him.
