Lazio forward Miroslav Klose could be out of action for up to two months after suffering a knee injury in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Genoa.
Klose, 34, was substituted at halftime and sustained what the club called a "severe lesion" in his right knee.
"Miroslav Klose was visited by professor Muller Wohlfahrt in Germany, his own doctor, who diagnosed a severe lesion of the external collateral ligament in his right knee," the club said in a statement. "The player will return to Italy and start the protocol prescribed by the German specialist. The estimated recovery time is about seven to eight weeks."
The German international has also been withdrawn from his country's friendly against France on Wednesday.
