The Detroit Lions have released wide receiver Titus Young.

The team made the announcement Monday. It wasn't much of a surprise.

"If y'all going to cut me let me go," Young posted on his Twitter account last month. "I'm tired of the threats."

An email seeking comment was sent to Young on Monday. Young was banished from the team in November for what Jim Schwarz called unacceptable behavior and was later put on injured reserve. Young was also told to stay away from the team during its last offseason for punching teammate Louis Delmas when the safety wasn't looking.

Detroit drafted Young out of Boise State in 2011 and he had 48 receptions for 607 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie. His production dropped off last season.
