Mallorca announced on Monday the club has sacked manager Joaquin Caparros after a run of five matches without a win has the side in the La Liga drop zone.

Mallorca's most recent setback, a 3-0 loss to Real Sociedad on Sunday, has the Islanders in 19th place, four points from safety.

"I would like to thank Joaquin and his coaching staff for their honor, dedication, desire and for helping the club grow in every sense," Mallorca acting president Llorenc Serra Ferrer said.

Caparros took over at Mallorca for current Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup in October of 2011.

Mallorca will try to get back on the winning track against Osasuna this weekend.
